About Dr. Muteb Alzaidi
Consultant thoracic and gastro-esophageal surgeon specialising in robotic and minimally invasive surgery. He practises at King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah and sees patients at his clinic at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah.
Dr. Alzaidi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Taif University and completed his Saudi Board training in general surgery at King Abdulaziz Medical City (National Guard Hospital) between 2011 and 2018.
He then joined the University of Melbourne's clinical fellowship programme in Australia, obtaining a fellowship in thoracic surgical oncology followed by a second fellowship in robotic and minimally invasive thoracic surgery. He completed his training in Canada with a fellowship in esophageal and gastric surgery at the University of Toronto.
His special interest is treating lung and mediastinal tumours through single-port (uniportal) surgery, and robotic surgery for reflux, esophageal and gastric disease. He believes surgery is not always the first answer, and that a doctor's duty is to tell the patient the whole truth — even when it is not what they hope to hear.
Beyond the operating room he is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College, and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Thoracic Disease, where he was selected as an outstanding author.

Honesty with the patient
The full truth about the diagnosis and the outlook — even when the family would rather not hear it.
What is best, not what is easiest
He recommends the best option for the patient — which may be no operation at all.
The least possible harm
Complex operations with minimal access and minimal tissue damage.
Continuous learning
A commitment to robotics, modern techniques and internationally validated training.
Outside the operating room
A disciplined athlete who sees daily training as part of professional discipline, and who serves pilgrims every year with the medical teams during the Hajj season. He keeps a clear line between his private life and his professional presence.
